"Our family has been part of the Heartfelt Farm community for over a year now, and it's hard to put into words how much it's meant to us... but I want to try, because I know how much your funding made possible.

My son is a childhood cancer survivor, and like many kids who've been through what he has, he carries a trauma history and is also neurodivergent. He visits the farm a couple of times a month, working with the animals, and what I've watched happen over this past year has been remarkable. He's learned to read the animals' body language - to notice a shift in an ear, a tail, a posture - and respond to what they actually need in that moment. That skill has carried over into the rest of his life: he's calmer in his own nervous system, more attuned to the people and beings around him, and he's found a real sense of empowerment in being someone who can be trusted to care for another creature. For a kid who's spent so much of his life on the receiving end of care, that shift matters enormously.

This summer, my daughter - his sibling - attended two of the camps you funded for the childhood cancer community, which brought together patients, survivors, and siblings. She came home with a journey doll, wet-felted pieces, and a "life tree" mapping the events and parts of herself that matter most to her… art that let her express things she had never been able to put into words before, including visually depicting cancer and covid. Since then, we've seen a real and lasting drop in her anxiety, and a rise in her confidence, her sense of safety, and her willingness to explore the world. Her self-awareness has grown in ways that still surprise me.

We are a medically vulnerable, fairly isolated family, and we live with a lot of extra barriers to the kind of inclusion other families take for granted. Heartfelt Farm has met every one of those barriers with kindness, patience, and real accommodation - never once making us feel like an inconvenience, always making sure both of my kids could show up safely and fully as themselves. What you funded didn't just give my daughter a few days of art camp - it gave both of my children a place where their nervous systems could finally feel safe enough to open up. We are endlessly grateful, to Heartfelt Farm and to you for making it possible.
